LOVE FOR LITTLE NAILS
Back to school season is here and with all the excitement of new school supplies and an updated wardrobe, why not update your nail routine? Here’s our best tips and tricks to help the kids in your life master their manicures.
- Keep it fun and simple
Put some time aside with your kids and plan a "nail salon" date right in your own home! Discuss and plan ahead of time your kids expectations and get the necessary supplies to make your date fun! Create a calm and relaxing environment free of distractions, like; cell phones and annoying siblings.
- Take breaks regularly
Depending on the age of the kids, it can be difficult to sit still for a long period of time while you do nails. Try only painting a few nails before taking a break, and use a fan or quick drying top coat to speed up the process
- Get a nail art brush
The brush that comes in most polishes may be too big to use on kids nails without making a mess. Invest in a separate, smaller, nail art brush to minimize the mess, and the stress.
- Use quality polishes
Traditional nail polishes can contain harmful chemicals. Be sure to use a 5-free polish with a protective base coat when doing your nails.
- Add a some art
Add a little flair to your kids mani by creating nail art. You can create simple nail art by freehand drawing images with nail brushes. Try a simple daisy or lady bug. If you don't feel you have that artistic flair, try nail stamping, it's a great way to keep little hands busy. Nail stamping makes it very easy to create nail art, but you'll need a few tools to help with that. It usually consists of a stamper, stamping plate and a quality stamping polish. However, you decide to create your nail art, don't be afraid to experiment and step out of your perceived artistic ability. Let your art express your kids personality and taste. Have fun! Manicure nights can be a great way to spend time together, and embrace your inner artist.
